May Exhibition: "It Takes A Journey", Artist Sheryl Amburgey
Artist Statement
“It Takes a Journey” is a reflection of my past and where it has led me. Along the way, I’ve discovered that nature is a reoccurring subject that inspires me. It is my interpretation of what God has created. The flowers represent a beauty that I found in the midst of my childhood; they were bright spots of color in my muddied world. Flowers continue to represent that happiness and landscapes depict a peace, a meditation in my busy life. Working in Mixed Media and exploring new techniques soothes my soul. It keeps me sane. If I stay with just one, I tend to get bored and eager to start something new. It is quite typical for me to have several pieces of art started all at the same time. From acrylic paint to melted wax to vintage jewelry, the materials I use
excite me. My style is what lives inside of me, what is waiting to come out, what flows from my heart to my hands. It is forever changing. “It Takes a Journey”.
